WAVE-POWERED FILTRATION IMPROVING WATER QUALITY AND ECOLOGY

Every wave you surf helps improve the water quality of the city. SurfPill uses the energy of the wave itself to support active filtration, aeration, and circulation.

This process creates a growing halo of cleaner water around the platform, improving hygiene and supporting healthier urban waterways for people and nature alike.

faq
How does SurfPill actually work?

SurfPill is a floating urban surf platform that combines standing wave technology with an integrated water filtration system. The wave is generated within the structure, allowing surfers to ride a consistent, repeatable wave in a controlled environment. At the same time, water continuously moves through the system as part of the filtration and circulation process.

Is SurfPill safe for beginners?

Yes. SurfPill is designed to be accessible for people who have never surfed before as well as experienced surfers. The controlled setting, predictable wave behaviour, and on site supervision make it a safe environment to learn, practise, and progress at your own pace.

How does surfpill improve the water quality?

Water passes through multiple treatment stages as part of normal operation. These processes support improved circulation, increased oxygen levels, and reduced stagnation in the surrounding area. Over time, this contributes to healthier conditions for aquatic life and supports broader efforts to make urban water cleaner and more usable.

Will SurfPill affect the canal or local environment?

SurfPill is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing waterways with low noise impact and a compact footprint. The system works with the natural flow of the water rather than against it, supporting better circulation and water quality. The goal is to enhance the local environment while revitalising underused urban spaces.

When will the first SurfPill open to the public

SurfPill is currently in development and working closely with city partners. Timelines will be shared as locations are confirmed and planning progresses. Updates will be announced as soon as dates are set.
